Once upon a time, a long time ago, a little girl was out to dinner with her parents. A doowop group was set up in one corner of the restaurant to entertain the guests. While the family waited for their meal, the little girl got up and started dancing. Other patrons thought she was part of the act, and thus a career in performance was born.
From local community and school productions, to the family connections in the film and television industry, her path was paved towards acting. Leaving behind the small but perfectly formed town of Mount Shasta, Katherine struck out for the city that never sleeps. Pursuing a degree from NYU proved to be the solution to becoming a better person and an exceptional actress. From fellow student's films to live stage productions, there was never a moment wasted.
Feeling that she had a grounding, but not a flowering, Katherine kept on the academic track. An MA through the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, UK seemed like an excellent place to flourish. With a fantastic course and phenomenal group of peers, she did shows both through the program and in the London fringe. With the completion of this degree, it was finally time to enter into the real world.
Katherine moved to the Bay Area, planning on finding her professional footing in a smaller setting and perhaps filling her heavily depleted coffers. While selling windows by day and doing theatre by night, the slow upward battle began. After a year, the window profession was demanding more than the acting, and it had to go. A shift of priorities, a fateful conversation, and suddenly everything changed! A partial move to Los Angeles occurred, leaving her available to more markets. She started to explore the possibilities in New York, opening a few old doors from her time there. With a job as a children's entertainer, she had the location/time flexibility and monetary compensation necessary to pursue her goals. She is starting out again to see what the world has to offer this fledgling actress.
It is at this juncture that we leave our heroine with so many questions left unanswered. Will she find an agent? Will she be cast in a film that promises to be captivating and exciting? Will she find a theatrical production that pushes her to newer heights in her artistic and professional endeavours? Will you play a part in her success?
Only time will tell.
